THE STICKERROAR GUIDE

Sticker Artwork Size Versus Finished Size

Understand why the picture inside a sticker can be smaller than the finished dimensions you select.

Updated

Two people leaning toward one another form a dark silhouette filled with a red, orange and purple seascape.

What to know

The finished dimensions describe the outside sticker area, not just the illustrated subject. A border and empty areas in the file can make the visible picture smaller. This matters when a face, word or logo needs to occupy a specific amount of space.

Check your plan

  • Inspect the file for empty outer pixels.
  • Check whether your chosen outline includes a border.
  • Measure the important subject as well as the outside shape.

A practical example

A character centered in a square can look smaller than a tightly cropped character even when both stickers have the same finished width.

The cover is an artwork example from the catalog. Use the measurements and file checks above to evaluate your own project, rather than treating the image as a scale reference.
