Eagle and Compass Stickers: Wingspan and the Lower Point

Plan the whole footprint of an eagle-and-compass sticker, including the wide wings, compass arms and long point below the tail.

Updated

A black-and-white eagle spreads its wings across a circular compass design, with a long pointed compass arm extending below its tail.

Measure beyond the eagle

In the pictured design, spread wings cross a circular compass graphic. A long pointed arm extends below the tail. The eagle supplies much of the width, while the compass adds height and extra corners around the outline.

Measure the full graphic rather than the bird alone. A space that fits the wings may still be too short for the lower point. On a paper mockup, mark the extreme left, right, top and bottom before comparing it with the available area.

Separate feathers from compass lines

The black-and-white feather shapes overlap with the geometric compass. At a smaller size, inspect whether the wings still read clearly against that background. You do not have to resolve every feather to recognize the bird, but the result should preserve the amount of detail you want.

If you prefer a quieter design, compare a simpler symbol rather than assuming a matte finish will remove the visual complexity. Finish and drawing detail are different choices.

Keep its orientation consistent

The compass points and spread wings establish a strong orientation. A slight rotation may feel more noticeable here than on an irregular flower cluster. Use a temporary paper footprint to judge alignment with nearby horizontal lines without attaching anything permanently.

This is a printed decorative graphic, not a navigation instrument or an official badge. Its visual effect does not imply reflective material or metallic ink. Review the material comparison if you need to specify which light and dark areas should remain visible.
