THE STICKERROAR GUIDE

Printed Gold Color Versus Metallic Material

Check whether a golden appearance comes from the illustration or an actual material specification.

Updated

Three women in flowing cream robes stand together, one holding an olive branch and another holding a small rectangular object.

What to know

Gold-colored shading can suggest metal in a drawing without using metallic material. Read the selected material and avoid assuming that an illustrated highlight guarantees foil or reflectivity. If the project depends on a physical metallic effect, confirm that capability and review an appropriate sample before ordering.

Check your plan

  • Inspect the material name.
  • Separate drawn highlights from finish effects.
  • Ask about any physical effect you require.

A practical example

A golden crescent moon in a cat illustration may simply be printed color. Its yellow highlights should not be described as foil unless the actual production setup provides foil.

The cover shows a catalog artwork example. It is not a physical material test or an installation demonstration. Confirm product-specific requirements for your actual surface.
