Keeping White Details During Background Removal

Separate intentional white artwork from the outer background when checking an automatic cutout.

Updated

A tan puppy with half-closed eyes peeks around a dark vertical edge, wearing a red collar.

What to know

White eyes, lettering and highlights may be intentional parts of a drawing. Removing a white outer background should not be treated as permission to erase every white area. Compare the result with the original and inspect enclosed details before accepting the outline.

Check your plan

  • Check eyes, teeth and white lettering.
  • Inspect enclosed spaces separately from the outer background.
  • Return to the original if the result changes the design.

A practical example

A white highlight inside a black eye belongs to the illustration. Losing it can change the expression even when the outer contour looks correct.

The cover is an artwork example from the catalog. Use the measurements and file checks above to evaluate your own project, rather than treating the image as a scale reference.
