THE STICKERROAR GUIDE

Preparing a Sticker With a Deliberate Rectangular Background

Keep an intentional background when it contributes to the illustration instead of automatically removing it.

Updated

A seated dachshund has long brown ears, a golden chest and a dark dapple-patterned coat.

What to know

Not every design needs an isolated silhouette. A rectangular scene, poster-style composition or framed quote may depend on its background. Check that the background extends as intended and that important details have room inside the selected shape. Use the original composition when automatic removal would change it.

Check your plan

  • Identify which background areas are part of the design.
  • Compare the artwork with the selected sticker shape.
  • Keep important text away from cropped corners.

A practical example

A mountain scene inside a rectangular frame may lose its atmosphere if only the mountains remain. The full background can be the right choice for that artwork.
