THE STICKERROAR GUIDE

Choosing a Material for a White-Lettered Design

Identify the white lettering explicitly when comparing opaque and clear material options.

Updated

A relaxed gray-and-white duck in sunglasses sits beside the phrase WHATEVER LIFE THROWS AT YOU, duck and let it HIT SOMEONE ELSE.

What to know

White letters can be central to the design, particularly on dark backgrounds. Check whether those letters are actual white artwork or empty shapes in the file. Then confirm how they should print on the selected base; a transparent file does not automatically define the white-ink setup.

Check your plan

  • Inspect the letter interiors in the source.
  • Compare the design on the intended background.
  • State that the white lettering must remain visible.

A practical example

A white quote on a dark panel and a cutout-style quote revealing the surface are different designs. Make sure the file and production discussion describe the one you want.
